MLS A deep-pocketed entity linked to Albert P. Behler of New York real estate giant Paramount Group — a major owner and operator of office properties in New York, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco — has purchased a revamped midcentury-modern mansion in Beverly Hills’ Trousdale Estates enclave. The seller was a lesser-known real estate investor, who listed the place early last year for $17 million. The price dropped to $15.5 million and then $14.8 million before it ultimately reached the buyer’s hands for the discounted but still substantial sum of $13.8 million.
Originally built in 1966, Behler’s newly acquired compound recently underwent an extensive remodel. Resting on a prime nearly half-acre rim lot, and nestled securely behind gates, the home features four bedrooms and eight baths spread across nearly 6,500 square feet of light-filled living space. Expansive walls of pocketing glass doors provide for seamless indoor-outdoor environs, and also offer panoramic views spanning from Downtown L.A. to the Pacific Ocean, with ritzy amenities including a movie theater, wet bar, wine cellar and an executive office with its own entrance
The flat-roofed structure greets with a landscaped motorcourt boasting fire features and a hedged private driveway. Once inside, highlights include a fireside great room, plus a sleekly designed gourmet kitchen outfitted with a center island, high-end appliances and a breakfast nook. A stylish wet bar ideal for entertaining abuts a formal dining area accented by a curved wine cellar set behind glass.
A luxe master suite has a two-way fireplace, dual walk-in closets and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the backyard, along with a spa-inspired bath equipped with an oval soaking tub and a large standalone shower. Outdoors, the lushly manicured grounds host an al fresco dining patio, a firepit lounge and built-in barbecue, plus a waterfall pool flanked by spa and sundeck. There’s also a three-car garage.
In addition to his new Trousdale Estates house, Behler owns a $33.5 million condo on the 35th floor of New York’s ultra-exclusive 220 Central Park South that he bought in 2019; other high-net-worth residents at that Robert A.M. Stern-designed building include Brazilian construction billionaire Renata de Camargo Nascimento, Taiwanese billionaire Joe Tsai, musician Sting and his wife Trudie Styler, and hedge fund mogul Ken Griffin — whose $238 million penthouse remains the most expensive private residence in the United States.
Tomer Fridman of Compass and Jeff Hyland of Hilton & Hyland served as the listing agents for the Trousdale Estates home; Alexa Kort of Rodeo Realty repped the buyer.
