Mosman’s historic trophy home Ardagh, owned by businessman and pharmacist Gary Smoker and his wife Mary, has sold for more than $17 million, setting a record among the local merchant mansions.
It is the first time the historic 1905-built residence has traded on the open market since 1964 when it was sold for £23,000 to the Champ family.
Records are yet to reveal the sale price and Richard Simeon of Simeon Partners declined to disclose the sale price, but confirmed it sold in the $17 million to $18 million guide.
It tops the $15,875,000 that Simeon sold the nearby historic mansion Leesthorpe for last year to Equis private equity partner Craig Marsh.
