Former Houston Rockets Head Coach Mike D’Antoni Sells Houston Mansion

After failing to lead the Houston Rockets to an elusive NBA championship, the team’s head coach, Mike D’Antoni , parted ways with H-Town. He served for four high-scoring seasons, yet couldn’t take the squad past the Western Conference finals.

After he was hired four years ago, he purchased a deluxe mansion in Houston ‘s Memorial neighborhood. The home had been on the market for $4,398,000 before he bought it for an undisclosed amount in June 2016.

But after he took off from the Rockets in September, D’Antoni’s home went back on the market in October for $4.7 million. The price was subsequently cut to $4,595,000 in November, and it wound up selling at the tail end of 2020 for an undisclosed amount.

The elegant and traditional home was built in 2001 and offers a number of luxury touches. It features four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms spread over a whopping 8,293 square feet of living space.

High-end architectural flourishes include walls of arched windows, arched doorways, and an elegant groined vault ceiling in the dining room.

For entertaining, the indoor living space easily flows to the outdoors. A grand family room and chef’s kitchen are fused together by wood beams throughout. The large living and dining rooms are adjacent to the entry foyer.

The chef’s kitchen features a large island and high-end appliances. A huge master suite boasts beautiful wood floors and large windows that provide an abundance of natural light. Two of the home’s primary bedrooms and bathrooms were renovated in 2016.

Luxe amenities include an elevator, chilled wine room, home theater, and billiard-room. Outside, there’s a pool and spa, as well as an outdoor kitchen with ample space to entertain around the fireplace. Above the three-car garage, 925 square feet of space provides an ideal location for a man cave or rec room. D’Antoni won 217 games over four seasons with the Rockets. In October, he was hired by the Brooklyn Nets to serve as an assistant coach.
