The five-bedroom, five-bathroom home, located on Malibu’s popular Broad Beach, was first listed in April for $12.2 million with Shen Schulz of Sotheby’s International Realty Malibu Brokerage.
“With the Malibu real estate market seeing a surge in sales as people seek to live near the Malibu coastline, this amazing oceanfront home had a great deal of interest from New York to Los Angeles,” Mr. Schulz said in an email. “We were able to elicit multiple offers and a seamless escrow experience.”
Best known for movies such as “Bullitt,” “The Great Escape” and “The Thomas Crown Affair,” McQueen lived in the house in the 1970s with his then-wife, actor Ali MacGraw , Mansion Global reported when the property was listed. McQueen, known as “the king of cool,” died in 1980 at the age of 50.
The residence has been renovated since McQueen’s days, according to the listing agent. The current owners, who bought the home for $9.93 million in 2014, did a major overhaul, he said. An outdoor dining area overlooking the Pacific Ocean. “There’s all-new flooring, and they updated the kitchen, the cabinetry and the bathrooms,” he told Mansion Global in April. “They also tuned up the beach access.”
Indeed, the home opens directly to the sand and overlooks the Pacific Ocean, and many rooms have water views, according to the agent. The surf breaks right in front of the residence.
Other amenities include an eat-in kitchen and open dining area, a den with a minibar, a spa, several deck areas and a primary bedroom suite with a sitting area, a fireplace, a marble bathroom and a patio.
The sellers were not immediately available for comment. Mr. Schulz declined to comment on the buyer, and records for the transaction are not yet publicly available.

The transaction has yet to appear in public records. The final sales price, as well as the buyer’s identity, could not be determined.
Mr. Rappaport, who also represented the buyer, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Built in 1959, the quintessential Mid-Century Modern spread has been completely restored and remodeled, according to the listing. It includes nearly 5,400 square feet of living space with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a large living room with a bar, a media room, a gourmet kitchen and an open family room, the listing said.
