Tammy Darvish’s Potomac mansion sells — just as she leaves her job

Auto executive Tammy Darvish ‘s Potomac mansion has sold — just as she makes a change in her professional life as well.

Darvish, a prominent name in the auto industry, has left her role as head of U.S. operations for auto dealership chain AutoCanada, where she worked since 2019 overseeing 17 franchises. AutoCanada (TSX: ACQ), said in an earnings report this week that James Douvas, an auto industry veteran, is now head of its U.S. operations, which is based in Chicago and sold 7,800 cars last year. The company didn’t provide further details.

At the same time, Darvish’s prominent mansion in Potomac has founder its buyer after being on the market for over two years.

The 14,000-square-foot, six-bedroom home at 9811 Avenel Farm Drive closed Monday for $4.675 million, according to sources familiar with the transaction. The buyer wasn’t immediately clear, as the sale has not yet been posted with the Maryland Department of Assessment and Taxation. The home was first listed in March 2019 for $5.995 million. Listing agents Anne Killeen , Robert Hryniewicki , Adam Rackliffe and Christopher Leary of HRL Partners with Washington Fine Properties declined to comment.

The property, built in 2010 on 2 acres, features a two-story foyer, billiards room and wine cellar, rear garden, outdoor kitchen and four-car garage.

Darvish said she was glad for the sale as she’s building a new waterfront home in Annapolis, where she’ll be moving next.

As for her next move professionally, Darvish said she can’t say more — for now. “Just spending time right now settling back full-time in the area,” she said.

This is the highest sale price fetched by a home in Avenel in 13 years and the third sale above $4 million in the 20854 zip code this year, as the local luxury housing market remains strong .

Darvish was the former face and vice president of Darcars Automotive Group’s chain of dealer franchises before a high-profile succession battle with her half-brothers . After leaving Darcars in 2015, she went on to work management roles at PenFed Credit Union, Capital Automotive and AutoCanada.
