The historic Potts Point mansion Jenner House is set to return to the market, 12 years after it sold for $15m to the current owners.
The talk is that more than $30m is expected for the Regency Revival-style marine villa, which is on one of the suburb’s largest blocks of about 1900 square metres and has stunning harbour views.
The five-bedroom, five-bathroom home with 10-car garage in Macleay Street is even grander than when it last traded, having had a three-year-restoration.
Designed by Edmund Blacket and built in 1871, it features an 1877 third-floor addition designed by Thomas Rowe. Harbour views. The property has been known by a range of names in its 150-year history, including Fleet Club, Stramshall, Jenner Private Hospital, Kurragheen and Lugano.
It was added to the NSW State Heritage Register in 1999.
The $30m price guide is based on the sale of another large historic home in Potts Point, Bomera, purchased by the Indian-born British businessman Sanjeev Gupta two years ago.
That fetched $34m. The home is on about 1900 sqm. The sales agent then was LJ Hooker Double Bay’s Bill Malouf, who is widely tipped to be the agent for Jenner House.
Property records show the vendors to be the luxury car dealer and racehorse owner Terry Mullens and his wife Wendy.
They’d bought the mariner villa unrenovated for $15 million from horse breeder Tony Peterson.
