Kim Kardashian West will keep the $60 million mansion that she shared with Kanye West. According to court documents filed with the Los Angeles County Court, Kim is the one who will be staying in the home Kanye designed.
The couple purchased the home for $20 million in 2014, shortly after they tied the knot. But would spend years on renovations. “I didn’t really know Kanye’s style at that point, but I thought the house was perfection. Kanye was less enthusiastic. He said, ‘It’s workable’.” Kim Kardashian West told Architectural Digest. Soon after they bought the property, much of the interior was gutting and renovated by the couple. Kanye West hired renowned architect Axel Vervoordt to help him with the project. The duo worked for six years on the vision that Kanye had envisioned for the property.
In an interview with Architectural Digest, Kanye explained his inspiration for the home’s aesthetic. He wanted a “metamorphosis of the house from suburban McMansion to futuristic Belgian monastery.” Kim has also described the home as a minimal monastery.
News of Kim’s property win comes one day after Kanye listed his Wyoming ranches for $11 million, according to HipHopDX . The Donda artist also recently purchased a new $57 million property, a beach house in Malibu. Famed Japanes e architect Tadao Ando has designed Wests Malibu property .
Many believed the couple might be attempting to reconcile their marital differences. Rumors that the couple was trying to work through their marital issues began when Kim showed up in a white wedding dress at the Donda listening event in Chicago this summer. “Kanye and Kim are moving forward with the divorce, even though recent signs have pointed to a reconciliation. Kim and Kanye are in a very good place, but they aren’t getting back together,” a source told TMZ . “Kanye agreed to give Kim the house because it’s close to her family, and they didn’t want to uproot the kids from their routine.
