The former Maharishi Ayruveda Health Center in Lancaster sold for $2 million. The 56-acre Maharishi Ayruveda Health Center, which is located in an historic mansion in Lancaster, sold for $2 million, according to the Worcester South District Registry of Deeds.
Located at 679 George Hill Road, the estate was bought in a deal closed Thursday by an entity registered to Michael and Paul White. The White’s are registered to the address of Mass Irrigation Services Co., a Quincy-based water service. Michael White is registered as the owner with the Better Business Bureau.
The firm was not available for immediate comment.
The holistic health center was named after the late Indian spiritual guru Maharishi Mahesh, but closed in 2012 due to low attendance. Since then, it was transferred to the Iowa-based Brahmananda Saraswati Foundation, who sold the property in last week’s sale.
It was also the site of some filming of the 2019 version of “Little Women,” and in the 1980s, celebrities like George Harrison and Michael Jackson visited for retreats.
The manor was built in the early 1900s and includes 54 rooms, according to the Lancaster assessors’ data. It was last assessed by the Town of Lancaster at nearly $4.8 million.
