PGA golfer Joe Ogilvie lists Austin mansion with 40-mile views

Retired pro golfer Joe Ogilvie and his wife, Colleen, on Feb. 24 listed their six-bedroom, 6,682-square-foot Georgian-style mansion in west Austin for $5.5 million.

Ogilvie, 47, played on the PGA Tour and won four tournaments on the Nationwide Tour before retiring from golf in 2014. He now works in finance.

Built in 1985 and located in the gated Rob Roy neighborhood, the mansion previously was listed by the couple in early 2021 for $4.75 million. And while they received offers to buy the mansion at that time above their asking price, they decided to hold off on selling because they couldn’t yet find another home to buy, said listing agent Cord Shiflet of Moreland Properties.

Now, the couple have found another home in the neighborhood, and they’ve placed the mansion back on the market. The reason for the higher asking price, Shiflet said, is that the newer asking price is closer to where the offers were that the couple received last year. The mansion has 5-1/2 bathrooms, two fireplaces, a first-floor primary bedroom suite with a sunroom, walk-in closets in each of the second-floor bedrooms and a second-floor play area with a deck with views extending for more than 40 miles. Other features include an office and a private guest suite with its own entrance.

Outside on the 1-acre property are a deck and a recently resurfaced pool, with pool equipment that was replaced within the past two years.

“The neighborhood is guard-gated 24/7, and the house has been totally updated throughout, and they used several of Austin’s most notable interior designers, one of which was Mark Ashby,” Shiflet said. “From the top floor, you get Lake Austin views, and from the whole house, you can see 40 miles out.” Joe Ogilvie’s Georgian-style mansion in west Austin. The couple had bought the house in 2007 for an undisclosed price. They bought their new house, which is on 4 acres a few blocks to the southwest, in December.
