The “Baby Del” mansion in Coronado, which is a historical landmark, is now on the market for $24 million.
Originally, the home was located in Sherman Heights. Then an architect moved it by barge to Coronado in the 1980s. It’s now
The mansion was built in 1887 and is known as “Baby Del” for its resemblance to Hotel del Coronado.
The 8-bed, 6.5-bath home was once called the Livingston House and people believe the construction workers who helped build it went on to work on the hotel.
“They say that, that they kind of practiced on Mrs. Livingston’s house with the turrets and the architecture, which is very similar to the Hotel Del,” Carri Fernandez , the realtor behind the listing, told FOX5 during a tour of the house . Another big selling point is the home’s 50-step walk to Coronado beach . It also has 72 windows and over a dozen doors that open up to let a breeze in.
“It’s fabulous. It’s got the high ceilings, they’re 12-foot plus,” said Fernandez. “We’ve got the carriage house, and the compound is one of the 8th largest properties for single family lots in Coronado.”
