Planet Fitness CEO sells Delray Beach mansion for $10.5M

A trust controlled by Michelle L. Rondeau and her husband, Planet Fitness CEO Chris Rondeau , sold a mansion on the Intracoastal Waterway in Delray Beach for $10.5 million.

The 978 Gardenia Drive Realty Trust, with attorney Michael A. Bass as trustee and with Michelle Rondeau listed as a settlor of the trust in county records, sold the 15,898-square-foot home at 978 Gardenia Drive. The buyer was the Gardenia Drive Realty Trust with Carol Pugliese as trustee. FBC Mortgage provided a $7.35 million loan to the buyer.

John Poletto of One Sotheby’s International Realty listed the home, while the buyer worked with Courtney Fuhrmann of Waterfront Properties and Club Communities.

Fuhrmann confirmed that the seller was Chris Rondeau , the CEO of New Hampshire-based Planet Fitness (NYSE: PLNT). She said the buyer was a CEO in the tech industry.

The price equated to $660 a square foot.

It last traded for $9.55 million in 2012, so it gained in value. However, it was originally listed for $12.95 million in 2019.

Fuhrmann said the buyer likes the home because it has a three-story entryway with a fountain and a huge chandelier, plus plenty of room for entertaining family and friends. It also has room for their 93-foot yacht and a smaller boat to drop by local restaurants, she said.

“They were originally looking in Fort Lauderdale, but they loved the beach town feel of Delray,” Fuhrmann said.

Built on the 0.54-acre lot in 2003, the home features seven bedrooms, 11.5 bathrooms, a pool, a dock, a fountain with a marlin sculpture, several balconies, a fireplace, a bar, and a summer kitchen.
