A half-built beachside mansion in Tennyson has sold for $1.7m to a local family.
The property at 66 Seaview Rd was first purchased in 2011 by a family looking to build their dream home.
While they didn’t get a chance to complete their six-bedroom house, new owners hope to complete it in the coming months. The 499sq m block, which has views of both Tennyson beach and the lake at West Lakes, resembled a construction site for months.
However, Ray White Gange’s Petra Mells said the unfinished project didn’t deter househunters keen to buy in one of Adelaide’s tightly-held million-dollar suburbs.
“Given that it was a large, unfinished property, I was anticipating it would take a while to sell. But to my surprise, it generated insane number of inquiries, not just from people in the industry looking to complete the project but from local buyers as well,” Ms Mells said. The home’s location and stunning water views were a big draw and won the new owners over.
“It’s a superb location. The buyers are local and very excited to complete the project and transform it into a family home.”
According to the original floorplan, the property was designed to have a kitchen and several living areas on each of its two floors, with the bedrooms spanning the two levels.
The former owners also wanted to include a “roof deck” for additional entertaining, and a perfect spot to soak up the views of the lake, city and the sea. The house was originally designed to accommodate six bedrooms. “We look forward to seeing how this house will transform into a magnificent seaside abode it was meant to be,” Ms Mells said.
The median house price for Tennyson is $1,398,750, according to realestate.com.au data.
