Asking price for Cary mansion sets record for Triangle MLS

A swank home in Cary is hitting the market with a price that could make it the highest sale in the history of the Triangle Multiple Listing Service.

The asking price is $9 million for the home at 2029 Giovanni Court. The mansion is across the lake from Koka Booth Amphitheatre and has spacious views of the water.

“It’s kind of further showing the maturity of our market and what we are becoming,” said listing agent Joe Hodge of Hodge & Kittrell Sotheby’s International Realty. The most expensive sale in the Triangle MLS so far was $7 million for an estate in Rougemont, near Hillsborough.

The Cary home was built in 2015 for Dr. Stefan Simoncic, an oral surgeon, and his wife, Kelly. It includes nearly 13,000 square feet of space and is packed with amenities such as a pool, exercise room and more. It has six bedrooms and six full bathrooms and three half baths.

The home, built by luxury homebuilder Jon Rufty and designed by Carter Skinner with Italian marble and other high-end upgrades, goes on the market today.

While $9 million is a rich price for the Triangle, home prices in the market have rapidly escalated as buyers scramble for options in a tight market. And the fact that the home is already built and ready could be appealing, Hodge notes.

Building such a substantial home in a market where supplies and workers are scarce would take time.

“If you want to build it now it’s going to take you three or four years,” Hodge said.

“You just can’t get stuff.” 2029 Giovanni Ct
